Children and the Elderly Will Face Starvation Under Trump's Budget

Under Donald Trump's new budget plan, if you don't work you don't eat. The budget resolution was passed by the House in October. It seems fair enough on the surface, but once you dig a little deeper you'll see how disgusting

Trump aims to push millions of people off food stamps. Most of these folks are already struggling to make ends meet, and the worst part is the fact that this low blow from President Trump will affect the neediest Americans, children, the sick and the elderly.

The new $4.1 trillion budget aims to pull $150 billion away from poverty programs, largely the SNAP Program (food stamps). Many of the people affected will be Trump's own constituents, people who voted for him, trusting his promise to "Make
America Great Again."

According to Ellen Vollinger, the legal director of SNAP work at the Food Research Action Center, "SNAP is the first line of defense against hunger in the U.S."

Unfortunately, many states are more than happy to support Trump in denying food stamps to once eligible people. Before Trump's new budget, some states were resorting to purposefully making the food stamp application process (SNAP application) harder to discourage people from applying.

The hard facts are this, one in six people in the United States faces hunger, this is higher than nearly all other developed countries. Food stamps keep food on the table for some people, and Trump and the Republicans who support him could care less about starving people in America, the elderly and innocent children included.
